Local Administration Minister S P Velumani sought the officials involved in development works to work with dedication to complete all works within a year. He was speaking after inaugurating the reconstruction work of Noyyal river at Chithirachavadi channel in the outskirts of the city when he said that the Chief Minister is taking all necessary steps to alleviate the sufferings of farmers by implementing schemes to augment water resources.
Referring to Athikadavu-Avinashi ground water augmentation scheme, he said that there were doubts whether the scheme would be implemented and added that the Chief Minister allocated funds for this ambitious scheme. Similarly, the Noyyal river reconstruction scheme would also be completed in a record time. It’s an achievement for the Tamil Nadu government. After reconstruction work is over, he said that farmers in Kongu region will be benefited to a great extent. Likewise, the ground water level across Noyyal river bed across Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur and Erode will get charged. In Coimbatore corporation, Noyyal ponds were being reconstructed under the SmartCity scheme and expressed confidence that once the works are over, Coimbatore will have new look with residents getting many amusement attractions in the city.
