Children’s Day celebrations held at the Kikani school on the 13th of November turned out to be an added achievement of 2 milestones in history of Coimbatore. The IKFF – International Kids Film Festival 2019 was exclusively hosted at the school with a special screening of some amazing set of films to students and parents. Along with that the school also participated and stood united against bullying by taking a pledge and creating a record at the ASIAN BOOKS OF RECORDS for the biggest mass participation.
KIKANI in association with LXL ideas organized the IKFF. Being a popular and unique festival where hundreds of internationally acclaimed and value based movies are screened, the school scheduled the films category-wise (like animation, value education, health and so on) and create an opportunity for students to watch the best of international children’s films. These films aimed at storytelling the students about the magic of the medium and how inspiring and educating it is in todays world.
The Inaugural ceremony commenced at 9.00 am and was presided by Nupur Sandhu , SS Therapist, Author and Film maker as the chief guest and Y.G.Madhuvanthi, Actor & Educationist, daughter of Actor Y.G Mahendran, as the Guest of Honor. Correspondent Shri Tushar Kikani spoke about the transformations that our Education system is going through. He also connected the dots to cinema is turning out to be a pivotal part of this transformtion. He explained how cinema is becoming a tool for imparting knowledge and awareness positively. He reiterated that one has to keep adapting oneself to the constant changes in the society in order to survive and succeed. He also spoke on how bullying is becoming a serious issue in our lives and the importance of eradicating or preventing it.
Nupur Sandhu in her address spoke on how even casual teasing among friends can have a bigger impact on a child’s mental wellbeing. She insisted and urged students to tell NO whenever a situation of them getting hurt arises.
The Guest of honor Y.G Madhuvanthi spoke on the impact of movies in all aspects of our lives. Bullying not only in school but in every stage of an individual is inevitable. She spoke on how we can groom our mind to achieve better results.
The film festival kicked off with the screening of a short film by Nupur on “Bullying” after which movies were screened the whole day for the students. The last session of the screening was open for all parents wherein close to 500 parents attended and learned new ideas along with their kids.
The finale of the event was the most highlighting part of the day. The entire school ground saw the signing of pledges by the 2400 kikanians against bullying.
Being the “Anti-bullying week”, KIKANI INSTITUTIONS in association with Million dots created a record thereby earning a name in the ASIA BOOK OF RECORDS. All the students gathered at the event took a pledge on anti bullying which was adjudicated by Pradeep Joseph from the Asia book of records. This inculcated the spirit of anti-bullying among the children and made the school take a giant leap towards breaking an incredible record.
