In a bid to help people to get basic documents like Aadhar, Voter ID, smart ration card, PAN to avail the benefits of Tamil Nadu government’s welfare scheme and for other purpose, Coimbatore branch of Jamat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) organised for a special camp ‘Enathu Aavanam, Enathu Elakku’ at Kasthuri Garden, Pillayarpuram in the city.
It may be noted that there about 500 Muslim families besides 200 dalit families in the neighbourhood who have been facing untold hardship in getting the benefits of government schemes due to lack of proper documents. Many elderly people have been abandoned by their children are living in penury for several years. And there were many children who were left abandoned by their parents due to poverty.
Mostly, the differently-abled persons and widows of this area were in a tight spot as they haven’t availed any monthly assistance from the government. Even several oldage people are bereft of oldage pension till now. Hence, JIH conceived the idea of organising the special camp in helping them in getting the necessary documents besides making corrections in the name, address other details in the documents.
Podanur Inspector Maheswaran inaugurated the special camp while Coimbatore city secretary M S Shabbir Ali welcomed and JIH president P S Umar Farook presided. The camp was held from 10 am to 4.30 pm with several people getting benefited. Jamat-e-Islami Hind has decided to conduct this special camp every Saturday since there are still many poor families who are need of basic documents.
Masjid Muneer sunnath jamath administration besides SIO members, Coimbatore district Muslim Women Self Help Group assistance sangam secretary Haji Shahul Hameed and Imdad organisation members, Coimbatore JIH public service secretary Mohamed Hakkim, Basheer rendered all help in the smooth conduct of the special camp. Meanwhile, the district collector, district administration, police department helped in conducting the special camp.
