Young Skaters Bag 16 Medals At Global Speed Skating Championship

A team of young budding skaters from the city bagged a total of 16 medals, including five golds in the Second International Speed Skating Championship 2018, organized by the Speed Skating Federation of India (SSFI) along with Hillfort Public School, at the N.I.T International Skating Rink in Nagpur.
Notably, the city’s 13 skaters who were trained at the Satheesh Speed Skating Academy, Gandhipark participated in the International Open Speed Skating competition and bagged five golds, five silver medals and six bronze medals in the competition. The skaters who took part in the 1000 mts speed skating in the age category of 8 – 10 years and 10 – 12 years were part of 1200 skaters participating from various parts of the world.
Among the winners were Rakshan who bagged a gold and two silver medals, Harish, Nirmal, Gurudas and Dhiraj who bagged gold medals, Abhinav, Murugan and Logadeepan who secured silver medals and Keerthana, Sujith, Pranav, Ganapathy and Ragul who won bronze medals, contributing to a tally of 16 medals in the competition.
