‘Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing’ is an inspirational quote of Benjamin Franklin, an American polymath, author, political theorist, freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman and diplomat.
Yes, this was what the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan told the students of Sri Krishna group of Institutions during an interactive session held at the college premises in connection with his maiden English book ‘Once Upon an IAS Exam’.
While answering to a volley of questions from the students, he said that a good book must change the individual and society at large thereby creating a history for the writers and added that penning books based on readers interest is the hallmark of a writer. And no denying the fact that a writer must give emphasis to his ideas and experiences as it would have a long reach among the book lovers. To a query on how to write a book, he told the students to begin with writing blogs besides facebook and whatsapp. No doubt these platforms would help them improve their writing skills to a great extent. Make an attempt to jot down their thoughts so that they could get an idea on how to develop their writing further.
Explore and experience by writing small stories or human interest articles, he told students that this is possible by browsing thru’ books as there are plethora of info which would help them get story knots. Seize the opportunity even while studying as this is the opportune time to enhance the skills in this domain.
Moreover, he advised the students to make newspaper reading a habit so that it would help them in competitive exams more particularly civil service exams. There is no shortcut for growth, hardwork with dedication alone would give the desired result.
The event witnessed the participation of Dr. K.Sundararaman, CEO, Principals Dr.J.Janet, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Dr.P.Baby Shakila, Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science, faculty members and students.
