What reading has on the health of the brain has the same effect that jogging has on the cardiovascular system, and reading actually increases the quality of life! Hence, even if old age is a good time to take things slow and it is also the right time to curl up with a book!
Stating the importance of old age health and bridging the gap of information for Senior citizens of today, Dr. Sadasivam’s book named “Pothimarathatiyil” was launched by Sri Krishna Sweets and PARIVU (A Senior Citizen’s home) jointly on 9th Feb at Ardra Hall, Avinashi Road. Being the 25th book written by him, the book fascinatingly conveys compilation of expert opinions from Doctors on mental and physical health through essays.
With several chapters on various organs of the body to symptoms and lookouts for diseases that affect senior citizens majority, the book also puts out a valuable message on yoga, exercises and how to write a “Living Will” which is a written statement detailing a person’s desires of future medical treatment. Living Will is mostly conducted in circumstances in which they are no longer able to express informed consent.
The book was released by Dr. G. Sivaraman, Arogya Health Care and Krishnan, CMD, Sri Krishna Sweets. The event had around 180 people come together to celebrate the success of the book.
Three people – A V M Varadarajan, Dr Chandrababu and S Subramaniam were felicitated during the function. The welcome address was also convened by P.C Raju, the Chief of PARIVU.
The book launch induced the necessity of caring for one’s own mind, health and body during old age and also encouraged many citizens to utilise their time reading and keeping informed of healthy living.
