As a part of its social welfare activities, every year Jagannath Textiles is organizing ‘Maha Rudra Abhishekam’ for World – Peace, Prosperity & Growth, during the‘Shravan’ month and this is the 13th consecutive year.
Lord Shiva, also known as “Neel Kanth” is the Supreme Being considered as the Lord of the Lords. During the “Samudra Manthan” Lord Shiva drank the Halahal poison that emanated from churning the ocean of milk and wore “Ganga”, the crescent Moon on his head and all devas started offering Abhishekam to mitigate the impact of the poison. This event took place in “Shravan Maas” and therefore, it is considered very auspicious to offer Abhishekam to Lord Shiva in this month. Rudra means Shiva, the destroyer of all sins. Rudra Abhishekam is considered to be the highest form of worship to Lord Shiva.
To make a peaceful world also, people worship Lord Shiva. In order to make this possible for one and all, every year, Jagannath Textiles is organizing a ‘Maha Rudra Abhishekam’ during this month and this is the 13th consecutive year. This year the occasion falls on Sunday the 11th of August 2019 and the venue is Rajasthani Sangh, D.B.Road, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore. All the material used for the abhishekam like milk, chandan, vibhuti, ghee, etc., will be provided by the company.
It would be a special event where the devotees themselves with their family can perform the abhishekam to the deity between 12.00 noon to 06.30p.m. This will be followed by the “Maha Rudra Abhishekam” by priests from 06.30p.m., and Maha Deeparathana at 08.30p.m., followed by Maha Prasadham. The Maha Rudra Abhishekam would be performed with the holy water from rivers all over India, 1008 litres of milk, 1008 lotuses, 306 litres of curd, 108 tender coconuts, 108 litres of panchamirtham, 108 litres of rose water, 108 litres of thirumanjanam, 108 litres of chandan paste, 108 litres of fruit juices, 108 litres of sugarcane juice, 108 kgs of viboothi, 108 kgs of jaggery, 18 kgs of rice flour and 18 litres of ghee. Vedic scholars will chant one lakh Rudra Japam alongside through-out in this divine occasion.
Priests from temples in the city are special invitees to this programme. Last year 2018, around 25,000 public had attended the function and performed the Abhishekam to Lord Shiva.
